Project description

 The power of storytelling as an educational tool for youth is widely recognised. Many aspects of storytelling are close to our daily life, to the way we think and (try to) understand the world around us. It is a powerful way to engage young people as well as to foster the acquisition of key competences, like verbal and communication skills in mother tongue, skills in a second or foreign language, imagination, creativity, learning to learn, intercultural understanding, digital skills and so on…

In addition, that is what we want to do; we would like to hear your stories and we would like to tell you ours. We would like to put together all the interesting tales that makes every one of us so special and unique. The power of a storyteller consists in stories. Storytelling can be a powerful tool for change, because “everyone you will ever meet knows something that you don’t” – once said a wise man… We will ask you to narrate your stories – as many as you can remember. Either you can talk about your own experiences, share memories from your childhood, or you can tell stories you have heard before from your parents, grandparents or somebody you have met.

During the youth exchange in Transylvania (Romania), we want to learn from the stories we hear and tell; furthermore, we would like to explore how to use story craft and practices to create personal and social change around us. We will have meetings during which we will recount what we have listened to and we will read to each other the notes we have taken. During this process, we will try to find common points in our stories, our cultures and traditions. In the end, we will create a Storytelling Book, which comprises all those storytelling treasures! Remember: my story and your story is our story!

We will write down the stories you tell us in your own words. If you agree, we will make a video about your tales. Moreover, all those stories will end up in a beautiful movie with narratives from some significantly different parts of Europe. This way you will make your voce and story heard and seen by lot of other youngsters from all over Europe. What do you think about that? Sounds like a lot of fun!

– non-profit organizations from EU Programme Countries working with young people and able to send 5 participants (4 participants + 1 group leader, gendered balanced group) that will fit the profile bellow. Dear future partners, please feel free to offer your input, the project is based on the active involvement of all partners invited and your ideas are more than welcome.

Participant profile

– young people aged between 18-30 (except group leaders) open-minded and open to new challenges, with good communication skills and able to actively participate in all the planned activities during the project cycle.

Conditions

Accommodation, meals and activity costs will be financed 100% through the European Commission’s Erasmus+ Program. Travel costs will be reimbursed according to the Erasmus+ rules (Youth exchanges).

Procedure to apply

All NGOs who wish to be part of this initiative are welcome to apply by filling in the Partner Identification Form (PIF) with the OID number and sending it to somogyi.attila@uff.ro. If you are willing to join the youth exchange, please send us your PIF and we will send the mandate in order to be signed by your legal representative.

Deadline for sending the PIF by e-mail is the 27^th of January 2020.
